COMMUNITY-MINDED youngsters collected a bumper crop of donations to celebrate harvest festival.
Pupils at Pocklington Community Junior School brought in a range of produce- used to create a display- which was given to Derwent House residential home in Kexby.
Children and parents grew all different types of fresh fruit and vegetables for the collection. Numerous tins of fruit and veg were also brought in along with flowers.
A traditional service was held in the morning, for year 3 and 4 pupils, and in the afternoon, for children in years 5 and 6.
Sue Yeates, from the Kirkland Street school, said: “It’s something we do every year and share it among the local community.
“We’ve always had a harvest festival service. It helps children realise where it comes from, where it is grown. It’s part and parcel of growing up.”
