Pocklington Future group has expressed its delight with the public’s response after holding its final community consultation event on Saturday.

The group has been gathering views and information from local residents and community groups since the end of 2011 to put together a Community Led Plan for the town.

Saturday’s event at Pocklington Arts Centre was the last chance to comment and make suggestions before the group finalises its communal vision for Pocklington.

About 50 residents attended on Saturday and added their comments and ideas for how Pocklington should develop.

The event also helped prioritise the list of recommendations compiled from earlier consultations during the past 18 months about the town centre, housing and development, the local economy, youth issues, sport and Leisure, heritage, the environment, traffic management and parking.

Pocklington Future group member, John Brown, said: “We had a marvellous response on Saturday. It was noticeable how much time and care people took to consider the information we have already compiled, and it also produced a number of new ideas and suggestions.

The completed Community Led Plan will be presented to both Pocklington Town Council and East Riding Council in May.
