Fundraisers throughout our area sat down for a cuppa on Friday to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Every year people across the country get involved in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event to bring in cash for the charity and once again Pocklington, Market Weighton, Melbourne and Holme-on-Spalding Moor all did their bit.
St Mary’s and St Joseph’s School, Barclays Bank The Feathers Hotel in Pocklington and The Wellbeing Centre and St John’s Methodist Church in Market Weighton all held events.
Coffee mornings in Melbourne, Seaton Ross, Hayton and Holme-on-Spalding Moor Village Hall also proved a success and Newbald School raised a very impressive £400.
Most of the Macmillan fundraisers in our area have yet to get a final figure for how much they raised but those that have counted include the Wellbeing Centre in Market Weighton which made £270, St John’s Methodist Church which collected £315 and St Mary’s and St Joseph’s School in Pocklington which raised £177.35.
Sally Millington, Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising manager for Pocklington, said: “Thank you to everyone in the area who got involved with Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
“Money raised will be used to fund our services, which provide practical, medical and financial support to people affected by cancer.”
