LOCAL vet Matt Brash has been appointed trustee for an international animal group.
Mr Brash is now a trustee of Wildlife Vets International (WVI), a charity that works to save rare and endangered animals all over the world through fundraising and time given by vets.

He said: “WVI are currently tackling issues such as the reintroduction of Amur Leopards in the far east of Russia as there are only 35 remaining due to the destruction of their natural habitat.

“Tigers are a huge problem for the locals, as they damage precious crops, so we are working to capture and relocate tigers to help resolve the problem.”

Matt and the charity have also developed health care programmes for captive animals which will be used by people working with them.

A spokesman for Battle Flatts Veterinary Clinic, Mr Brash’s practice, said: “All the staff would like to congratulate Matt on his new trustee role and wish him and WVi all the best of luck with their ongoing campaigns.”
