POCKLINGTON'S finalist in Miss York scooped second prize in the competition.
Hannah Williams, a student at Woldgate College, came runner-up out of 25 girls in the final stage of the competition at the Royal York Hotel in York.

The competition was won by 19-year-old Helen Jackson from Claxton.
Hannah said: "I was very surprised to win second place, and I enjoyed the whole day and night so much. The girls were lovely and I made really good friends with them all.

Hannah, 18, is studying biology, chemistry and English literature and has her A-level exams this summer.

She said she will continue with modelling and may enter the competition again next year.

She said: "I might do it again next year because this year's winner came third last year, so hopefully I could potentially win next year.
"I am taking part in a fashion show for charity on Sunday and have other modelling assignments in the summer. I am going to concentrate on my exams but do modelling for fun."

The evening also raised more than £1,000 for Caroline's Rainbow Foundation – the charity set up in memory of backpacker Caroline Stuttle who was murdered in Australia.

Hannah said: "I would like to say a big thank you to my sponsor Bunty and Co, Nicola was a great help with all my preparations and wants me to do it next year.

"I would also like to say thank you to anyone who voted for me and anybody who donated to Caroline's Rainbow foundation."
