RESIDENTS are being asked to be vigilant following two burglaries which they suspect to be linked.
Those living in the Market Weighton and Holme-on-Spalding Moor area should report any suspicious behaviour after the houses were hit just hours apart.

Overnight on Friday, 12 June, thieves approached a property on Back Lane in Holme and broke in,
conducting an untidy search of the kitchen and lounge area.

The thieves took off with a silver laptop, a black Ipod, a grey Land Rover estate, keys for a Mini Cooper, a black handbag, various credit cards, a red Suzi Smith purse, a silver Nokia mobile, a black Nokia mobile, an Olympus digital camera, a photo driving licence and a N.I card.

At around 12.30am, a house on Wicstun Way in Market Weighton was targeted, when the thieves entered the property and stole a camera and an orange Ford Focus from the driveway.

Officers believe that the two burglaries may be connected and linked to criminals coming into the area from West Yorkshire.

Sergeant Pete Rogers of Pocklington Police said: "These type of offences are sporadic and do not occur very often, however, we are asking people to pay attention and report anything that seems suspicious.

"Looking at these cases and the cars that have been stolen, anyone who has a noticeable vehicle that has attracted any attention should be aware of who is looking at them."

This was echoed by PC Jeremy Fish, who said: "I would urge members of the public to be on the look out for these vehicles and report any sightings to Humberside Police immediately.

"It is possible that these vehicles may have been taken into the West Yorkshire area."
