POCKLINGTON Mayor's Charity Concert takes place next week at the arts centre.
It features the Bridlington Classic Pop Singers, who sing and dance to music from the 1960s and 1970s. There will also be a prize raffle at the event, on Friday 30 October.

Mayor David Sykes’ nominated charity is Yorkshire East Riding Voluntary Em
ergency Services (YERVAES), which

helps to fund the work of volunteer doctors who respond to serious accidents, supporting the local ambulance service.

Councillor Sykes said: “It’s a very important charity. The work they provide is in addition to the ambulance service. They call it the ‘golden hour’, the crucial sixty minutes after an accident is when most lives are saved. Without these volunteers people involved in accidents often would not see a doctor until they get to the hospital, possibly missing out on advanced, lifesaving, treatment.

“The concert is raising money for equipment for YERVAES to use.”

Music on the evening will include

Coun Sykes said: “The group is devoted to raising money for charity and are performing for free. They sing, dance and wear various costumes - it will be quite a lively night.

“Tickets are selling well but we would like to sell out. It will be a good evening. Our raffle has some very good prizes too including tickets to get into the paddock at York Races and a season pass for Burnby Hall Gardens.”

Wine and canapes will be served from 7pm with the concert starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 and available from the box office on (01759) 301547.
