A BAND whose line-up includes two former local lads have seen their debut album chart at number six.
Ed and Dan Hetherton, of Elliot Minor, are celebrating the success of their self-titled first release. The brothers, from Meltonby, and who went to Pocklington School, are two members of the five-piece band.

Ed, 21, plays bass guitar and Dan, 20, is the drummer with Elliot Minor, who already have four top 40 singles under their belts.

Dan said: "It's amazing. We spent most part of a year-and-a-half recording the album in LA, plus some other studios and it's now at number six."

The band are now in Europe. Dan said: "We start off in Brussels, then Paris, then Berlin then Prague, then we fly straight to LA to shoot the next video.

"It is a bit different to Pocklington, but I still remember the days playing in the Station pub."

They will play dates in Yorkshire, in Leeds and Scarborough, this summer. Dan said: "I'd love to play round here more, they're supposed to be opening up a venue in York in the future, it would be amazing to play that."

Elliot Minor have a busy summer ahead with a 20-date tour, plus plans to appear at more than 10 festivals including T In The Park, 02 and Download.

Dan said: "The 20-date tour is sort of a beach tour, places round the coast, ending up in Cornwall. It's all very exciting, we've not done the festivals before."
