THE Battle of Fangfoss Field has been hailed a victory for the village.
The event was held over two days at Jubilee Park in the village and ran alongside the village fete.
Members of the English Civil War Society recreated a battle ground and seventeenth century village in the park and highlights over the weekend included the re-enactment of a Civil War battle.
Richard Allen, chairman of the Fangfoss and Bolton Jubilee Park Company, said: "It was a great success, lots of people said how much they enjoyed it Everything we did went very well, the barn dance especially on the Saturday night, we were really pleased with the way it went and so were the re-enactment group, they are keen to come again."
Mr Allen said because the event was funded through a grant from Awards For All it was unlikely it would return next year. He said: "We would certainly like to do it again though, might try again for funding in the future.
"Thanks you to lots of helpers from the village and local area and people who contributed in all kinds of different ways."
