Appeal for gardeners to join village meeting

SHIPTONTHORPE Village Hall Committee is appealing for locals to attend the first meeting of The Chatty Gardeners Group next week.
Facilitated by the committee, the club aims to promote the enjoyment of gardening with a series of monthly meetings that include guest speakers, plant, seed and tips swapping and the possibility of garden visits.

At the inaugural meeting, to be held at the newly-refurbished hall on Station Road between 7.30 and 9pm on Monday, 9 November.

Gardeners will welcome Martin Rowland, Manager of Mires Beck Nursery at North Cave, one of Yorkshire's leading suppliers of wildflowers and cottage garden perennials.

Gardeners of all ages, interest levels, garden size and horticultural ability will be welcomed at the group that has a monthly programme lined up that includes winter colour from Langlands, pests and diseases from the Food and Environment Research Agency and spring lawn care from Rolawn.

The cost of the meeting will be £3 per person and pre-booking is not necessary. For more information, please call Simon Baty on 07711 112668.
