Plans to commemorate World War One in Pocklington have been given a boost after the town council received a grant of nearly £5,000.

The council, with the help of Pocklington and District Local History Group and the Pocklington branch of The Royal British Legion, submitted a grant application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and has been given £4,900 from the organisation.

Some of the funds will go towards an exhibition, from 31 October to 7 November, about Pocklington and World War One, which will include details about those who died in the conflict from the town.
