A 200-year-old slab of stone with an inscription has been discovered in a Pocklington church.

The stone, about 20 inches high and about a foot wide, was found during renovation at the Pocklington Christian Fellowship building, on Chapmangate.

On the stone, which was fixed into a wall under a window, is an inscription saying “Eliza Waterhouse died 2nd Feb 1817”.
