SINGING starlet Katie Wood performed live on local radio station Vixen 101 on Saturday.

The soprano was among several guests at the Pocklington Arts Centre where the Market Weighton-based community station broadcast from 9.30am to 1pm.

Presenter Tony Barker interviewed Mayor of Pocklington, councillor Graham Perry, the chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Coun Kay West, and Melbourne pianist Emmanuel Vass.

He also announced the winners a Christmas Short Story Writing competition; Robert Willoughby of Millington and 14-year-old Reece Ingham, whose stories you can read on page 11.

In addition, a coffee morning was held at the venue to raise vital funds that will help keep the station going.

From the sales of refreshments and cakes, along with tickets sold for Vixen 101’s birthday raffle, about £200 was raised on the day.
