To celebrate what makes our county great, we are launching our search for the definitive list of the best East Yorkshire Experiences.

We want readers to get in touch with their ideas for the places and events that everyone should visit at least once.

We are looking for a wide range of experiences on our doorstep, from the fun days out for the whole family to the finest country pubs to enjoy a pint.

Which sporting events are worth a visit? Where is the best place to see live music? Which iconic buildings in our part of the world should be included?

Can you think of the best place to enjoy a picnic? Or how about the best restaurants, cafes or tea rooms which give a real taste of East Yorkshire?

We’d love to draw up a really diverse list to showcase the county at its best. And it would be great to uncover some of the area’s best-kept secrets alongside some of its best known attractions.

Coun Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “There are some very well-known places across the East Riding but also some hidden gems that only the locals know about.

“There are also a number of museums and galleries off the beaten track and this could be the perfect time for those who do know about them to let the rest of the East Riding know what is out there.”

As well as thinking of places to recommend, you can suggest special days in East Yorkshire’s calendar.

Where is the best place to spend New Year’s Eve? Which events make Christmas special in our region? And which shows, fetes, galas or special events should be marked in everyone’s diary?

We have our ideas of places and experience which we think should make our final list. But we would love to hear suggestions from readers.

To let us know your ideas, email john.edwards@jpress.co.uk, with East Yorkshire Experiences as the subject.

Please include your full name, address and few sentences about why you believe your idea should be included.
