Smallest festival’s big return

A MUSIC festival which organisers are billing as ”probably the smallest in the world” is planned for the end of the month.

The Bielby Music Festival is being held on Mill Lane in the village and a selection of artists are being lined up to perform.

The event is once again being held to raise money for charity - Macmillan Cancer Support and, after £2,600 rang through the tills last year, the organisers are hoping for another good turnout.

Spokesman Ian Simpson said: “We hope people will bring a picnic hamper, umbrella, blanket and seat, settle down for some great music, and maybe have a few beers. Our target is to raise £2,000.”

Held from at 4.30pm to 10.30pm on Sunday, 28 August, entry will be £10 per person, and £5 for under 16s.

Performers include folk singer Edwina Hayes, Eurythmics saxophonist Snake Davis, as well as other local bands.

For details, contact Ian Simpson on (01759) 318328 or Richard Coe on (01759) 318314.
