There is a movement that is building momentum and that is to give a fair price for a fair product, it means that the many impoverished producers of some of our basic foods receive a living income, buying Fair Trade products also means that money is ploughed into the communities that subscribe to this ethos.
There is the Fair Trade fortnight with events all over the country, Mel Butler at Oxfam is doing a tasting at the Oxfam shop between 10am and noon the dates are Tuesday and 8 March.

And of course the Big Brew is on in All Saints' Church on Saturday.
We at Pocklington FLAG (Fair Trade and Local Produce Action Group) have a tasting in the Arts Centre on 22 March.

With all foods there is a large variety and range, it goes beyond bananas and coffee, there are many more products to wet your appetite, even a wide range of wines, so come along and try it out, you will may well be surprised.

Martin Cooper
Chairman Pocklington FLAG
