Launch of toy appeal

A DEVELOPER is asking local people to spread some happiness this New Year by donating gifts to disadvantaged children.

McCarthy & Stone’s Ingle Court development on Beverley Road has launched a toy appeal on behalf of children’s charity Barnardo’s. It is inviting locals to drop off unwanted Christmas presents or new toys to the development before the end of January.

Fiona Brooks, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, said: “Whether big or small, your unwanted Christmas gifts will bring smiles to children who have not been as fortunate this Christmas. We’re hoping that our toy appeal in aid of Barnardo’s will prove to be a fantastic initiative that will help give many children in our region a positive start to 2012.”

Barnardo’s was chosen as McCarthy & Stone’s ‘Charity of the Year’ in October last year, and the retirement specialists are aiming to raise at least £50,000 for the organisation over the next 12 months.

To donate a gift, visit the show complex, which is open Tuesday to Saturday, or call 01430 879408.

Alternatively, you can log on to www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk.
