COMMUNITY-minded villagers are supporting a project to help keep an historic church open.

Residents from Fangfoss recently attended a meeting, organised by the The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Martin’s Church in Fangfoss, to discuss the future of the church.

St Martin’s was recently offered a £150,000 grant from English Heritage for much-needed restoration work to the building. However, the funds would cover less than half the costs needed to carry out all the restoration work.

At the meeting at St Martin’s Primary School in Fangfoss, residents said they would help the PCC raise a required £31,000, which has enabled the group to accept the £150,000 grant.
