MODELS strutted their stuff at a fundraising fashion show in Market Weighton last week, which raised hundreds of pounds for the town’s Community Hall.

The event, organised by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill outlet from Langlands Garden Centre in Shiptonthorpe, was held at the hall on Wednesday 20 March and attracted more than 80 local residents.

Stephen King, chairman of the hall, explained: “It was a great success, both socially and in terms of the monies raised towards the Community Hall Refurbishment Fund.

“After expenses were deducted, over £400 was raised through tickets sales and the proceeds from a raffle.

“82 ladies, and a few gentlemen, had a very enjoyable evening and were impressed with the arrangements, the models were excellent and the range of spring fashions on show was superb.”

Work on the hall’s new kitchen is underway, which is being funded by a WREN grant of £8,900 and contributions from the Community Hall, Market Weighton Town Council and the Market Weighton Community Shop.
