A MOTORIST has been fined £175 for using a mobile phone while driving.
Mark Stuart Knowlson, 24, of Middlefield Close, Scarborough, was seen using his phone while driving a Ford Focus along Scarborough Road, Bridlington, on May 19.

The case was proved in Knowlson's absence at a brief hearing at Bridlington Magistrates Court last Friday.

The court was told that Knowlson was stopped by a police officer who pointed out the offence, to which he made no reply. It was also proved that Knowlson had failed to produce his driving licence for examination, for which he was given three penalty points.

He was also ordered to pay court costs of £40 and a victim surcharge of £15.
